The GW Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program is a categorical five-year program with 20 residents, four per year.  This program will prepare medical school graduates to function as practitioners of orthopaedic surgery at the level of performance expected of a board-certified orthopaedic specialist.  This includes the development of not only expertise in patient care and medical knowledge, but also professionalism, interpersonal skills, practice-based learning, understanding of health care systems and how these skills can be applied to patient care.  Residents will be trained also in basic science and clinical research in orthopaedics.

Each year four PGY-1 positions are filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
